PASTORAL CARE
At Re:Hope our primary vision is to lay the foundations for reawakening by raising up mature disciples of Christ. In reflecting God’s love for us we are called, as His disciples, to love one another well. The vision of the Pastoral Care Team is to encourage, equip and co-ordinate us as a family towards loving others well in an intentional and consistent way.
HOW DO WE HOPE TO PROVIDE PASTORAL CARE?
Pastoral Care Team
As a team we would like to offer support to our church family in a few different ways.
One to One Support
Members of the Pastoral Care Team are able to meet with others to support them through an immediate difficulty or longer-term issue. This will involve listening and talking to the person, praying with them, and keeping in contact with them.
Visits
We aim to ensure that, as far as is possible, a member of the team visits those in our church who we are aware have been admitted to hospital, and again once they are home.
Practical Provision
We hope to take every opportunity to provide generously for one another, such as using the ‘Take Them a Meal’ programme.
Other Ministries
In addition to the specific interventions offered by the Pastoral Care Team, this type of love and care is also provided in many of our other ministry teams. This includes the Welcome team, Bible Reathrough groups and the Prayer Ministry team, all of whom work closely with the Pastoral Care team to try and ensure further support is offered where it is needed.
We are also compiling a ‘library’ of books and articles which we believe provide a biblically-grounded approach to various topics.
PASTORAL CARE TEAM LEADER
The role of the Pastoral Care Team leader is to co-ordinate the various sources of pastoral care, to provide training for those seeking to grow in pastoral care, to liaise with other ministries involved in identifying those in need and in providing aspects of pastoral care, and to provide supervision for the pastoral care team.
Although there are a number of ministries and pastoral services available, it is important to emphasise that we as a pastoral care team are not trained counsellors and will at times face situations that would be better or more safely addressed by others.
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED IN PROVIDING PASTORAL CARE?
The best part about Pastoral Care is that everyone can be involved! If you are interested in finding out more about joining the Pastoral Care Team, email pastoralcaresouth@rehope.co.uk
